Sarah Barber, PhD
Associate Professor and Co-Director of Graduate Studies, Department of Psychology, Georgia State University Faculty Affiliate, Gerontology Institute, Georgia State University Dr. Barber (she/her) completed her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at Stony Brook University in 2010. She then received postdoctoral training in cognitive aging from the Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California. In its broadest sense, Dr. Barber's research examines how memory performance is affected by age and social context. Based upon this research, in 2019 she received the J. Don Read Early Career Award from the Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition. This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of emerging scholars in the area of applied memory and cognition. Dr. Barber currently serves as an Associate Editor at Memory & Cognition. Michael Sobel Misieczko PhD Student in Clinical Neuropsychology concentration Michael is a 4th year Ph.D. student in GSU’s Clinical Neuropsychology program. Before attending GSU, Michael worked at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia. Michael is interested in age-related changes in affective forecasting, episodic future thinking, and how clinical diagnoses impact cognition and emotional well-being. Outside of school, he enjoys listening to his vinyl collection, hiking, cooking, playing tennis, and lifting weights! |

Meenakshi Menon
PhD Student in Cognitive Sciences Psychology concentration Meenakshi is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the Cognitive Sciences program at GSU. Before joining GSU, she worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Brain Research in India and earned her M.A. in Applied Psychology from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Her research interests lie in stereotype threat and cognitive aging. Beyond her research, Meena enjoys traveling, exploring museums, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. |

Katie Shoemaker
PhD Student in Clinical Neuropsychology concentration Katie is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in GSU’s Clinical Neuropsychology program. Before relocating to Atlanta, she worked as a research coordinator in the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University Maryland, where she majored in Psychology and Biology. Katie’s research interests focus on how stereotype threat affects aging, memory performance, and overall well-being in older adults. In her free time, Katie likes to be active, travel, and spend time with friends and family! |

Lynnsey Cole
M.A. Student in Gerontology Lynnsey is a 1st year master's student in the Gerontology program at GSU. Before attending GSU, Lynnsey earned a bachelor's degree in Psychological Sciences from Western Kentucky University, with concentrations in cognitive and biobehavioral psychology as well as in sociology and criminology. Her interests are in cognition, aging, and neuropsychology, with a focus on neurodegenerative disorders. Outside of the lab, she enjoys reading, cooking, thrifting, and watching movies with her cat Bella! |

Caroline McDonald
Caroline graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she was a Research Assistant for GSU's FEELINGS Lab and continues to participate in the Lab. Caroline is a Research Coordinator for the Cognition & Aging Lab, overseeing progress toward study milestones & interacting with participants. She is currently applying to programs for her master's. She hopes to attend a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program next summer with the aim of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. Outside academics, Caroline loves to travel, hike & camp with her dog, and cook yummy vegan recipes. |

Preia Montgomery
